Switzerland won this year's
Eurovision Song Contest. The song "The Code" by Swiss rapper and
singer Nemo delighted both the jury and the audience at the popular yearly
event held Saturday in Malmö, Sweden.
"It is the most insane thing that has ever happened to me," the
24-year-old vocalist stated during the post-event news conference.
"The Code" delves into the artist's nonbinary identity with a
colorful mashup of opera, rap, drum-and-bass, and electronic dance music.
Nemo was one of two nonbinary singers competing in this year's Eurovision Grand
Finals, alongside Ireland's Bambie Thug.
In a contentious event, Switzerland narrowly defeated pre-competition favorite
Croatia, receiving 591 votes to the runner-up's 547.
